Welcome to Springfield Lodge Montessori Day Nursery. We are a 69 place nursery catering for children from birth to 5 years. We specialise in Montessori Education for 2 - 5 years of age. We are open 52 weeks of the year, from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, closed only on bank holidays, with both full and part time sessions on offer. During School holidays and half terms, we are able to provide full day care for children up to 8 years of age.
We receive nursery education vouchers for 3 and 4 year olds for 38 weeks per year for a maximum of 5 sessions per week. Each session lasts for 2 1/2 hours.
Our under twos' unit is divided into 2 rooms; the baby room which caters for all the non-walkers, and the toddler room from walkers up to the age of two. Each room offers a whole range of activities; the baby room work around each child's individual needs and offer activities such as simple art and craft, a ballpool, soft play equipment, fish bubble lamp and singing.
The toddler room is slightly more structured and stimulated to help with development in all areas of learning. Craft activities are planned on a daily basis, construction toys such as duplo and wooden bricks are also available. We also have other equipment such as soft play, tunnels, tents, footballs, bikes and slides. Story time and singing is part of our daily routine. Whenever possible and weather permitting, the children have the opportunity for outdoor play in the garden and going out for walks in pushchairs.
All of our staff are either fully qualified or working towards a childcare qualification, with the Manager holding the Montessori Early Childhood Teaching Certificate. All nursery staff are committed to providing the best possible educare within a loving environment.
We have 3 rooms for the over 2s: a large Montessori room, a craft room and a soft play area. Montessori represents an entirely different approach to education. A major principal being that children learn by doing. Learning by using all five senses, allowing the child to develop in a natural way. The Montessori method gives each individual child the best possible conditions to help them fulfil their potential.
We have recently had a new build to extend our nursery, and our existing building has been refurbished. We also have a large all-weather astroturf garden which is secured by high fencing. The whole nursery is CCTV secured.
We are registered with the local authority and with OFSTED. The nursery is recognised by Investors in People since July 1998 and therefore staff training and development is ongoing. In May 2005 we achieved the "Qualtiy Counts" award - the National Day Nurseries Association kitemark of quality care which is a reliable indicator of a high quality, high value service, which we have always striven to provide. For the past three years we have been successful in being nominated for the finals of the Childcarer of the Year Awards, gaining a Highly Commended award in 2003.
We invite you to visit us and all are welcome.
