The Welbourn Gardens Day Nursery is a purpose built nursery within the newly built Lincoln North Sure Start Children and Young People's Centre.   The nursey opened on the 22nd May 2006 to serve the families and children in the surrounding areas.   The Nursery is registered for 28 children aged from birth to 5 years.   We are open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

The nursery is on one level and has been planned to ensure that we are able to offer a safe and secure environment for your child to be able to play and learn in.  The nursery is decorated in lilac and pale blue creating a calming and relaxing environment.  We have an excellent security system in place with CCTV so that no one can enter the building without being identified and can  only proceed further than the foyer when a staff member electronically opens the door.   The children are in a family group aged from two to four years and have the opportunity to use both playrooms.

The pre-school playroom is registered for 16 over twos and contains our home corner, book area and tables with a variety of equipment to encourage the development of the children.   It also has an area for creative activities such as painting, dough, sand, water and sticking;  This also doubles up as our lunch area.   We have a child sized sink unit enabling our children to mix paints, wash up and to participate in preparing the room for lunchtime.

Within the Centre there are other family services available, such as Citizens Advice, Counselling, Health Visitors and Family Support.  We have access to the sensory room, which is used for tactile, visual, auditory, vocalisation, personal and social skills.  There is also baby massage and baby yoga which we are able to access.   We prepare healthy and nutritionally balanced meals in the kitchen on the premises, and all dietary requirements will be catered for.

Our baby room is self-contained with a nappy changing area, and is registered for 12 under twos.   The room is divided into three areas, sleep, play and creative.   We offer our under twos the same opportunities as the older children; this includes sand and water play, physical activities and areas for books, quiet relaxing time and an area where the babies can sleep.   The outside play area consists of a separate area for the under twos of paved and soft surface.   The rest of the area is paved, has a soft play surface and grassed area.  Having the different play surfaces offers the children outdoor play all the year round.
